Pines of Rome: 1. pini di Villa Borghese

Pines of Rome: 1. pini di Villa Borghese

Just finished a new video that was a blast to make. Here is Respighi’s Pines of Rome, pini di VIlla Borghese! I got to try out my new Pearl MalletStation and show off my single-note trumpet skills :-)

Also, this is the first video I’ve made with an arrangement available for purchase. This summer, all the profits from this arrangement will be donated to the NAACP Legal Defense Fund. Even if you aren’t interested in the arrangement, I encourage you to donate to the NAACP LDF or anywhere else to help fight racial injustice. This movement needs to be long and sustaining.

Shostakovich Symphony No. 10 Mvt. II

Sitting at home, I was trying to think of a way I could express myself without chamber music friends. I decided I’d make my own band! This is a piece that has lured young musicians into classical music for years and years.

Here's my arrangement of the second movement of Symphony No. 10 by Dmitri Shostakovich for marimba, vibraphone, and snare drum. Sym. 10, mvt. II was one of those pieces I listened to on repeat as a kid. I'm pretty sure I spend my 40s trying to impress 15-year-old version of me.
